Two Dashboards and What You Missed

ThatVibeCoderThatVibeCoderSeptember 28, 20263 min read

Normally my weekly send is about business and the stuff that goes into running one with AI and automation. This week is going to be a little different, because I want everyone who's new and everyone who's been reading a while on the same page.

There's also some stuff in here I haven't put out in public yet, like the MOAT dashboard. These have been absolutely vital in not only mine but my clients' businesses as well. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Figuring Out If a Business Idea Is Actually Worth It

If you ever felt like you kept talking yourself into ideas that felt exciting and then that died six months later, I built this for you. A scoring system that goes over four things, each out of ten:

  • Margin
  • Operations
  • Advantage
  • Market size

Anything under a certain score I don't touch anymore, and that rule has saved me more time than any productivity system I've ever set up.

Figuring Out Who's Actually Worth Selling To

This talks about something called an ICP, which stands for ideal customer profile. This is extremely important, as you need to know who you're targeting, not only in general, but especially when you're running ads and sending traffic to specific pages.

The one I like to remind people of is that "if you're speaking to everyone, you're speaking to no one". The dashboard covers:

  • Who you're targeting - in general, and for every ad and page you send traffic to
  • What makes somebody worth your time
  • The ones to politely pass on - so they stop eating your week

What You Missed

Two posts worth catching up on if you're new here.

  • The people who asked what it costs and went quiet - Somewhere in your inbox is a group of people who asked for a price and never wrote back. Most owners treat that as a no, and it usually isn't one. This one walks through finding them and what to actually send.
  • Why the fastest reply usually wins the job - Somebody messages you, you're busy, and by the time you answer they've booked with somebody else. You didn't lose that on price, you lost it on speed. This one covers what a good first reply does and how to have it go out without you.

One Thing to Try This Week

Run the business you already have through the MOAT dashboard, not the next idea but the one that's paying your bills right now.

  • Score it honestly - on margin, operations, advantage and market size, and don't round up just because it's yours
  • Look at the lowest score - whatever scores lowest is usually where your week is going
  • Fix that first - it's the first thing worth fixing or handing to a system

What did your business score lowest on?
