Your Next Job Is Managing AI Agents

ThatVibeCoderThatVibeCoderAugust 3, 20264 min read

The way people work with AI is shifting. Sitting there prompting, one request at a time, is already becoming a thing of the past. The new wave is managing teams of AI agents, and it's a lot less technical than it sounds.

Prompting Was the Beginner Level

Everyone's been learning how to prompt, and that's fine, but a prompt only gets you one answer and then it's done. An agent keeps a whole job running, and once you have a few of them going, the bottleneck isn't how good your prompts are anymore. It's how well you run the team.

It's not something that happens overnight either. You build the team one agent at a time, and it gets better every single week you run it.

What Managing Actually Means

Managing an agent team isn't technical. It's the same moves every good manager makes:

  • Define done before you delegate - if you can't say what finished looks like, the agent can't either
  • Give each agent one job - one agent, one responsibility, no exceptions
  • Check the work and correct it once - the correction gets written down, so you never make it twice

The Part Most People Miss

Everyone I see on social media is building these crazy systems for their AI agents, custom apps and control rooms just to watch them work. I watched one guy build what was basically a space station interface for his. It looked cool, but it's a complete waste of time.

My agent teams live in Notion, the same place my tasks and content already live. Every team is set up the same exact way, they all connect to the same knowledge base, and it's more organized than any custom dashboard I've seen.

This is how I run agent teams:

Brian's agent teams board in Notion showing teams organized by department with their status
The actual agent teams board in my Notion. No custom app, no control room.

How I Set It Up

I recorded a six minute walkthrough of me adding the agent team section into Notion, start to finish. Watch it and build yours the same way.

One Thing to Try This Week

Last week you picked the one process worth automating. This week, write its job description:

  • Write three sentences - what done looks like, when it should happen, and what it needs to see to do the job
  • Hand them to Claude - ask "if you were doing this job for me every week, what would you need from me?"
  • Save its answer - that list is the gap between you and your first working agent, and the walkthrough above shows you where it all lives

Where the Team Lives

The command center my team works out of is the same Claude Dashboard I give every reader, and there's an agent team section inside it built for exactly this. If you grabbed the dashboard already, open that section this week. If you haven't, it's free.

And if you'd rather build this with someone instead of alone, building your agent team in 30 days is the whole point of The Vibe Stack. Week one is the command center, then the agents, and I'm in there answering questions as you go. Founding members are getting in at the floor while I build it out.
